The rain is falling outside and there is a slight chill in the house. I love making dinner especially after a long cold day, but what to cook. I look in the fridge, celery, carrots, chickens, onions, and chicken broth. The perfect ingredients to make Mom's famous chicken noodle soup. Saute the veggies, cook the chicken, mix all the ingredients together in a large pot. Wait. Wait. Wait. Add in the noddles. Almost there. Twenty minutes later, done. Sitting down with the roommates and eating a delicious meal is a great start to my evening.

Monday morning I left for home from my practicum site, I started my car turned on my radio to my favorite country station. I pulled out of the parking lot when, the song came on hitting me like a fist to the stomach. My Wish by Rascal Flats, Mom song, the one we played at my brothers funeral. Even though its been five years I'm still surprised by how with one song can bring back the wonderful memories I shared and could have shared with him. When I pulled into the drive I waited in the car until the song was over. Memories of the day of the accident and his funeral ran though my mind, I wiped away a tear got out of my car. I then look at what I have accomplished and know he would have been proud. A small ray of sunshine peaks through the cloudy sky, it warmed me up. Now I am ready for the rest of the day. It was a bittersweet moment, he may not be here in person but no matter where I go I still have his memory.

Woke up this morning to frost on the ground. 29 degrees. As much as I love the winter I keep dreaming of the time I can put on my flip flops. The day wore on and the day became a little warmer. 36 degrees. Finally, I decide to be brave and try them out. I walk out the door, it could be colder. By the end of the day my toes were freezing, back down to 30 degrees. I put them back in the closet. I will have to get them out another, much warmer day.
